Hope For You

Sooner or later we all find ourselves in need of hope.  We hope for the best, we hope things get better, we hope things turn out okay, etc.  Everyone needs hope.  But what is hope?  Hope is the confident expectation or belief in the truth, reliability, fulfillment or accomplishment of what is yet unseen or not yet totally realized.

All hope is built on trust.  In other words, trust is the foundation and makes up the building blocks of hope.  Any hope that we have is based on the trust that we have in something or someone.  Therefore our hope is only as good as the thing or person we are trusting.  Often our hopes are built on the trust that we put in money, jobs, status, education, institutions, governments, material things, other people, etc.  But sooner or later many of us come to realize that none of these things are reliable and that they fail to provide true satisfaction or fulfillment.  We ultimately discover that we have trusted and built our hopes on “sinking sand” and we’re left with feelings of hopelessness and emptiness.

But God, the Creator and Maker of all things, created and “wired” us in such a way that we are incomplete and empty without Him.  Yet we often try to fill this void and emptiness with everything except Him.

God created mankind for His glory and to have relationship and fellowship with Him.  However, mankind fell into sin and disobedience.  And because God is holy and righteous, our sinful condition caused us to be separated from God and from the relationship and fellowship we were meant to have with Him.  The holiness and righteousness of God also required that our sinful condition be dealt with and addressed.  Our sins had to be atoned for…a price had to be paid.

The only way our sins (past, present and future) could be atoned for and forgiven was through the shedding of blood.  The sacrificial blood of One who was perfect and sinless was required in order to atone for mankind’s sins.

“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission – (Hebrews 9:22)

God knew and had foreseen that mankind would fall into sin.  Nevertheless, because of His love, grace and mercy, before the foundation of the world, He set into motion His “Salvation Plan” to save us from our sins.  This “Salvation Plan” involved the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was the only One qualified to pay the penalty and atone for mankind’s sins.

Through His suffering, death, burial and resurrection, Jesus Christ saved us from the power of sin, the penalty of sin (death), and from eternal condemnation and separation from God (Hell).  His sacrifice provided the gift of SALVATION for all of mankind!

In other words, Jesus wiped our slates clean and made it possible for us to be forgiven and reconciled back to God…to once again enjoy the relationship and fellowship we were meant to have with Him!

God’s gift of salvation is a gift that keeps on giving…those that accept this precious gift also receive another priceless gift…the gift of ETERNAL LIFE!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – (John 3:16)

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – (Romans 6:23)

Not only did Jesus make salvation and eternal life possible; in addition, He has made it possible for us to have a new life RIGHT HERE AND RIGHT NOW!  A new life with joy, peace, purpose, and HOPE!

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” – (John 10:10)

So regardless of the circumstances, situations or curves that life may bring your way, it is possible to have a SURE HOPE!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – (Jeremiah 29:11)

Jesus Christ has made a SURE HOPE possible through the gift of salvation that He offers to everyone.  But like all gifts, it must first be received.

My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less
My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

On Christ the solid rock I stand,
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.

O God Our Help In Ages Past
O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal home.
